My daughter Chloe, a 10-year-old book enthusiast, often loses track of time wandering through bookshops. Having just finished The Hunger Games, we found ourselves back at it, facing another towering wall of books.
Normally, we’d pull down titles one by one that caught her eye, but this time we were pressed for time. I wondered — how we could speed up the search without missing out on books Chloe would love?
I pulled out ChatGPT-4o on my phone. I snapped a photo of the bookshelves. Then, I asked for recommendations like The Hunger Games for a 10-year-old.
ChatGPT quickly suggested six books. Each suggestion was full with synopses. It even pointed out which part of the shelf each book was on! Chloe promptly took over my phone, snapping more photos of shelves and collecting even more ideas.
She ended up discovering authors she’d never considered before, and we left the store with five new books. Just a week later, she’s already fallen in love with her new collection.
